The Fraternal Order of Police is the world's largest law enforcement organization, with over 318,000 members and over 2,100 lodges throughout the United States. Founded in 1915, the F.O.P. represents professional, full time officers from all agencies of law enforcement. Active membership in the Fraternal Order of Police is open to all full time law enforcement officers, regardless of rank. Municipal, county, state and federal government officers are eligible for membership.
The Greater Kalamazoo F.O.P. Lodge in Kalamazoo, Michigan was founded in 1939 and is made up of officers from the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office, Kalamazoo Township Police Department,Western Michigan University Police Department, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, Portage Police Department, Vicksburg Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation,
Galesburg Police Department, Schoolcraft Police Department, and Kalamazoo County Probation and Parole. The local lodge is an independent body in the conduct of its own affairs. The local lodge officers are elected by the Constitution and By-Laws which are drafted and approved in conformity with State and National By-Laws of Fraternal Order of Police. Our Local Lodge is a member of the Michigan State Lodge and is represented at state board meetings and conferences by trustees and elected delegates by the local membership.
The Greater Kalamazoo F.O.P. Lodge is made up of law enforcement officers who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving their community. They also strive to improve their profession by improving working conditions, wages and benefits and by monitoring legislation affecting law enforcement on the local, state and national levels. The Greater Kalamazoo F.O.P. Lodge organizes and assists in several charitable causes throughout the Kalamazoo Area such as Holiday Food Drive, area Little League and Soccer programs and teams.
